Immigration to Australia for Jobs

Question: The assignment aims to give a view about the jobs performed by the immigrants to Australia. Answer: Introduction Immigration to Australia began approximately 50,000 years ago. People from all over the world immigrate to Australia for higher studies or jobs. As per the census report of 2011, it was found that one in four Australians from the population of 22 million were born overseas (Remennick 2013). Job is an important factor for the immigrants to survive in Australia. Getting jobs in Australia is a struggling process for the immigrants. This issue had been carried forward over the years and immigrants find it hard to get job in Australia (Gowan and Teal 2016). In this assignment, the type of jobs, which the immigrants get, and the issues they face would be researched and an idea would be given about these topics of immigrants. Body The face of Australia is changing and it started at the borders. Earlier the immigrants were mostly from the European regions. This had changed over the years and Asia had over taken Europe in context of immigrants in Australia. These new immigrants posses skills for the work. However, they lack opportunities in Australia (O'Donovan and Georg 2013). This may be the cause of non-English speaking quality or because of the lack of opportunity in Australia. The immigrants in Australia possess high qualities in context of educational qualification. These well-educated immigrants face problems when they reach Australia for job. The immigrants do not get proper job as per their qualification. It is hard for them to find jobs according to their qualifications. They face various discriminations while getting jobs. The rate of unemployment for the non-English people had doubled than the national average of unemployment. These immigrants sometimes land up to the jobs that are far below their qualities. The immigrants sometimes work hard for seven days a week with no breaks and holidays (Mendoza et al. 2013). They may be more qualified to get a better job. However, it is hard for them to find such a job. The immigrants face discrimination when it comes to get a job. The immigrants who have their names like Mohammed or Abdul do not get interview calls. They are forced to change their names when they change it; they get a call for the interview. The Australian government provide various types of support to the new arrivals to Australia. The immigrants to Australia are entitled to crisis payment and special benefits from the government of Australia (Jackson 2013). The immigrants sometimes are enrolled in the schools to learn more to land a job in Australia. They even do to various factories to gather experience for jobs. The qualified immigrants sometimes land job as a bus driver or a delivery boy despite having bachelors degree. The immigrants to Australia are provided with guidance to land them with better jobs. The guide developed by The Hills Holroyd Parramatta Migrant Resource Centre (MRC), help the immigrants to find a job in Australia had provided a guide (Gowan and Teal 2016). This guide also helps the immigrants to understand the workplace environment in Australia, have the skills of the immigrants recognised and help then to gain additional skills when required (Jackson 2013). This is a self-help tool that helps the immigrants to find a job in Australia. The immigrants to Australia must follow some dos and donts in order to get a job in Australia. They should visit various job websites before immigrating to Australia and they should get accustomed with the working structure in Australia. The immigrants should prepare their resume according to the Australian style. The immigrants must not apply for jobs long before they visit Australia (Fuller and Martin 2012). They should apply for the job 1 to 12 weeks before arrival. The immigrants should create a positive impression about themselves on their first interview. This would help them to land a better job in Australia. The immigrants must provide Australian address and Australian phone number in their resume before applying for the job. These ways help immigrants to land job in Australia. The immigrants land different types of jobs. Sometimes they land jobs that are suitable for them and sometimes they find jobs that are much below their qualification. Thus, the immigrants face various problems to land them jobs. Some of the immigrants find themselves unemployed for a long period of home (Faggian et al. 2014).They goes to various training centres to learn the special skills for work. They even go to various industries to gather experience regarding work. This helps the immigrants to understand the working environment better and this experience helps them in future to find a better job. Some of the immigrants get better jobs while some get jobs that are below their qualification. There could be many reasons regarding this difference. The immigrants who are well accustomed with the working environment of Australia and they have researched about the jobs and their requirements prior to visit to Australia, finds it easy to get better jobs (Ahmad 2015). Those immigrants who do not research about the jobs of Australia, land up to a below level job. Australia has ample of opportunities for jobs and this is a good place to build career. Some of the immigrants avail this opportunity successfully while some cannot. Another important document to get a job in Australia is the work permit visa that is essential in the interviews as well as to land the job (Fuller and Martin 2012). Conclusion In this assignment, it was seen that the immigrants face many problems when they want to land a job in Australia. The rate of unemployment had increased and this had been doubled than the natural average of unemployment. However, if the immigrant knows the rules and regulations about the jobs, its required qualification and the working environment, it would help him to land a better job and crack the interview. Thus, finding jobs in Australia is a tough job for the immigrants, they need to struggle to get a better-paid job in a better environment, and they need to provide various documents for the jobs.
